Article: Modbus TCP and its Client-Server model and MQTT and its Publish-Subscribe model: when to use each of them and what are their advantages and disadvantages?

The Modbus TCP protocol has been used for years in automation applications. However, with the advent of concepts such as Industry 4.0, IoT and geographically distributed wireless devices, new necessities - that make difficult to use Modbus TCP and its Client-Server model – have arrived. To help solving data communication in applications where the Client-Server model does not, this article presents the Publish-Subscribe model used in MQTT, a protocol widely used in IoT solutions.

This is the 11th time that NOVUS participates in the world’s largest HVACR marketplace. The fair takes place between January 14 and 16 in Atlanta.
